Orthoptic eye exam
An orthoptic examination is an examination that aims to evaluate the vision of both eyes simultaneously, i.e. test the function of both eyes together, or what is called binocular vision. In other words, the purpose of this examination is to test the ability of the eyes to work as a pair in a synchronous manner to provide ideal vision.
Binocular vision is very important and allows the brain to see a single image (fusion of images from each eye), three-dimensional vision, and to direct the eyes in one direction.
The orthoptic examination comes to check binocular vision, the presence of strabismus, the presence of nystagmus (eye oscillation), three-dimensional vision (depth vision), eye movements, diagnosis of disorders in eye movement and coordination between them, lazy eye, vision focusing problems, visual acuity problems and the need for glasses.
At Orasis Eye Center, this examination is performed by Dr. Orwa Nasser himself, an expert in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, and in fact the child undergoes a complete eye examination with an orthoptic examination at the same time.
